Artist: Roberta Luchinski
Roberta Luchinski, a watercolour artist living near Tobin Lake SK, pursues a loose, impressionistic style in her painting. Understanding that watercolour is a challenging medium, Roberta works to “collaborate” with the paint, creating washes, blends and layers of transparent watercolours to tell the story of what she sees. Roberta’s work is informed, both formally and informally, through online classes and workshops, mentorship, research, practice and experimentation. She has been painting with watercolours for 16 years. Roberta uses oil painting as a secondary medium, enjoying the opportunity to linger and play in the wet paint where watercolours demand quick work and planning ahead.
Many of Roberta’s works are painted on location, (en plein air) or from sketches and inspiration from adventures across Saskatchewan as well as outside of the province. Painting from real life to share the magic of life and cycles of nature is her primary inspiration.
